West Virginia Beats Baylor To Cap Off Ten Win Season

The West Virginia Mountaineers have placed third in the Big 12 for the first time since joining the conference in 2011. This comes after a hard fought game against the University of Baylor Bears this past Saturday, winning 24-21.

The Mounties struggled through the air, completing ten passes for 111 yards, and two touchdowns. On the ground, West Virginia ran for a total of 311 yards. Their defense is what carried the team to a win though, forcing two fumble recoveries and two interceptions, to force a total of four turnovers. They also reached the Baylor quarterback often, recording four sacks against the Bears.

Daniel Larcamp, former offensive lineman for the Mountaineers, said “This team is the best overall West Virginia team since 2007, when Pat White almost lead the team to a national championship”. Unlike 2007, this West Virginia team will not have the chance to rip my heart as the Mounties finished third in the Big 12, and not a single game away from a national championship. The Mountaineers will travel to Orlando to play in the Russell Athletic Bowl against the University of Miami on December 28th. Should they win, this would ultimately end be the best season for the Mounties since 2005, when Pat White was a sophomore, and Rich Rodriguez was still the head coach.
