These MLB teams have less than a 1% chance of making the playoffs….

As of today, July 23, 2023, there are no MLB teams that have been officially eliminated from the playoffs. However, the Oakland Athletics, Kansas City Royals, Washington Nationals, and Colorado Rockies mathematically have less than a 1% chance to reach the postseason.

The Athletics are currently in last place in the AL West, 26 games behind the first-place Houston Astros. The Royals are in last place in the AL Central, 23 games behind the first-place Minnesota Twins. The Nationals are in last place in the NL East, 24 games behind the first-place New York Mets. The Rockies are in last place in the NL West, 22 games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers.

It is still mathematically possible for these teams to make the playoffs, but it would require a major collapse by the teams ahead of them. As of right now, it seems highly unlikely that any of these teams will be playing in October.
