All the Exciting Scenarios for Match Day Six of the Champions League

Written by Harrison Prolic at The Comeback

The final match day of the Champions League group stage is upon us. After Wednesday we’ll know who will have the glory and honor to move on to the last sixteen, who will have to trudge through the Europa League and who will fade into European obscurity for the rest of the season. Some teams have already punched their ticket to the next round, while others are only playing because they have to. Here is a look at all the groups and what needs to happen to see a team through.

Group A:

Real Madrid – 13 points
Paris Saint-Germain – 10 points
Shakhtar Donetsk – 3 points
Malmo FF – 3 points

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are guaranteed a spot in the last sixteen as they finished 1 and 2 respectively. The only battle going on in this group is to see who will head down to the Europa league and who will bow out of Europe all together. Both Shakhtar and Malmo face tough road fixtures. Shakthar is headed to Paris, while Malmo heads to Madrid. If both teams remain level on points after Tuesday them Shakhtar will advance as they hold the head to head tie breaker.

Group B:

Wolfsburg – 9 points
Manchester Untied – 8 points
PSV Eindhoven – 7 points
CSKA Moscow – 4 points

This group features one of the marquee matchups of match day six. Manchester United head to Germany to play Wolfsburg on today. The winner of that game will advance as group winners. It’s after that when things get a little muddy. If PSV beats CSKA Moscow at home, the Dutch side will progress and the loser of Wolfsburg/United will finish in third place. If United and Wolfsburg draw, and PSV win, then United will finish third and PSV will take second place. If PSV loses, then United and Wolfsburg will advance regardless of what happens in Eindhoven. CSKA Moscow will finish third if they beat PSV.
