Yasiel Puig is an immensely talented outfielder. He’s also a big problem for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Puig’s personality has gotten him in trouble ever since he first appeared in Major League Baseball. His showboating ways rankle with the game’s old guard, and his work ethic has been questioned by his coaches and teammates. He is also known to violate team rules, sometimes without consequences.
Puig’s Dodger teammates appear to be fed up. According to former MLB player Andy Van Slyke (the father of current Dodger Scott Van Slyke), ace pitcher Clayton Kershaw wants Puig gone. Kershaw, Van Slyke says, has told Andrew Friedman and the rest of the Dodgers brass that he wants Puig traded.
Friedman won’t just move Puig on Kershaw’s say-so, but consistent locker room strife on a win-now team isn’t a good thing. There’s certainly a possibility that Puig will be on the block this offseason. If Friedman does pull the trigger on a Puig trade, though, where will the outfielder be going?
Cleveland Indians
The Dodgers would like to add some starting pitching this offseason, and the Indians have RHP Carlos Carrasco, a 28-year-old stud on a team-friendly deal. This idea has been floating around in the media for a few days now and seems to have some traction. The fit is there, but will the deal get done?
