Top 10 Free Agents of the 2015 Offseason, and Where They Could Land

Written by Joe Messineo at No Coast Bias

We have reached the darkest days of the year, my friends. With the World Series over, we’re staring down a long winter of no baseball. But take heart, because baseball still offers plenty of excitement even when it’s not being played. During the offseason, teams will try to woo the best players available on the free agent market. Who will score the players that make their teams great? Here are our picks for the top ten free agents, along with our guesses as to where they might end up.

  1. 1B Chris Davis

Chris Davis hits for power, and he had a strong 2015.

Who will get him? Probably an AL team. The Baltimore Orioles really, really want to re-sign this guy. The Yankees are always a possibility. Or perhaps the Astros will try to get over the top by paying Davis.

  1. IF/OF Ben Zobrist

The great thing about Zobrist is that he can play anywhere. The other great thing is that he’s awesome at baseball. The bad thing: he’s 35.

Who will get him? Almost everyone wants Zobrist, so he might go to whoever overpays. This is the hardest contract to predict. Pick a team, any team, and we guarantee they’ll kick the tires on Zobrist.

  1. OF Yoenis Cespedes

Cespedes had an up-and-down postseason, but he is a great slugger who was key to the Mets’ pennant-winning surge.

Who will get him? Not the Mets! They’re shying away from the money and years involved. It’s unclear who is going to go for broke on Cespedes. It might be a big-market team like the Los Angeles Angels.
