Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson, after throwing four touchdowns and running for another score, was asked which was tougher: facing the Titans’ defense … or Alabama?
“I’ll say Tennessee,” Watson said, “just because it’s an NFL team.”
Watson, drafted 12th overall after leading Clemson to a national championship, has his Texans teammates giddy after Houston demolished the Titans 57-14 on Sunday at NRG Stadium. The Texans set a franchise single-game scoring record in the rout.
Among those most excited?
Texans owner Bob McNair.
“It’s just unbelievable,’ McNair said. “The performance of our quarterback – he just keeps getting better each game. … He is so calm, cool and collected. The team has so much confidence in him that it really picks them up.”
The Titans committed five turnovers and lost Marcus Mariota to a hamstring injury.
“Tennessee has a good ball club,” McNair said. “You just don’t expect to beat a good ball club by that kind of margin. It’s just kind of shocking.”
McNair was asked whether he’s ever felt better about the Texans, which have won two consecutive division titles largely because of defense.
