Saban Has “No Beef” With Harbaugh

CFB, USC vs Bama

Nick Saban had no interest in continuing a war of words with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh on Thursday.

After trading barbs in recent weeks with Harbaugh, the Alabama head coach said before his Nick’s Kids charity golf tournament that he has no issue with the headline-chasing Big Ten head coach.

“I have no beef about Jim Harbaugh,” Saban said. “Jim Harbaugh is fine with me. I didn’t say anything about him and I’m not saying anything about him right now. Everybody has the right to manage their program like they want. I’m not in any way critical of anything he’s doing or has done or anything else. I don’t really care.”

The battle between the two high-profile head coaches ratcheted up a notch when Harbaugh took exception to comments Saban made at the SEC spring meetings in Destin, Fla. Harbaugh tweeted it was “amazing to me Alabama broke NCAA rules & now their HC is lecturing us on the possibility of rules being broken at camps. Truly amazing.”

Nick Saban went on a rant over satellite camps earlier Tuesday

Saban responded in an interview with ESPN’s Chris Low, stating “I don’t really care what he thinks or tweets.”

Harbaugh, unwilling to let a statement go without another response, said Saban was hypocritical given recent issues with Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis. Davis resigned after being involved in NCAA violations, according to AL.com sources.

During a satellite camp stop at South Alabama on Tuesday, Harbaugh said he needed to respond after Saban’s comments railing against the satellite camp tour.

“I feel like one got fired over our bow, and you want to fire one back over their bow,” Harbaugh told AL.com. “Usually things are from the school of thought of ‘sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt you.’ Unless somebody attacks you or somebody lies or somebody bullies you.
