CBS made news this past week after signing former NFL quarterback and current broadcaster Tony Romo to a record deal that will pay him $17 million annually.
According to Andrew Marchand of the NY Post , that did not come before CBS actually offered fellow former NFL great Peyton Manning the job.
The report notes that Manning was offered between $10 and $12 million annually. He was not decisive in making a decision, leading to network handing Romo a whopping new deal.
Manning has received interest from multiple networks as a potential announcer since retiring from the NFL following the 2015 season. He’s also been bandied about as a potential front office guy.
