Maryland Reaches First Bowl Game Since 2014

Maryland’s football team is bowl eligible for the first time since 2014, after beating Rutgers University 31-13. The Terps did it, despite having their passing offense limited to under 100 yards and QB Perry Hills had a 29.5 quarterback rating. For those not familiar, a perfect quarterback rating or QBR is 158.3. Maryland ran over the Rutgers defense, running for 318 yards, almost doubling the opponent’s rushing performance.

Make no mistake, this Maryland team is not world beaters, as they’ve proven in their 3 game, losing to three ranked opponents to a total of 149-13. Still, head coach DJ Durkin is in a position to please his fans by winning the Terps first bowl game since 2010. This team has a lot of work to do, but Durkin has taken them down the right path. Maryland will play the Boston College Eagles on December 26th in the Quick Lanes Bowl, in Detroit. Not exactly where I would want to be the day after Christmas, but the Terrapin’s should be proud of even making a bowl game.
