In a move that many expected after a dismal showing in 2016, reports show that the Redskins will let go of their entire defensive staff, including defensive coordinator Joe Barry, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Skins coach Jay Gruden is parting with his entire defensive staff I’m told. Starting over on that side of the ball

Pick a key statistic, and the Redskins defense ranked at or near the bottom.
Washington gave up the 28th most yards in the league, the 24th most rush yards in the league and was just abysmal at getting stops on third downs.
There was some debate as to if Barry should be given another year to prove he could improve the defense. Washington’s team lacked a number of resources on the defensive side of the ball, particularly along the defensive line.
La Canfora’s report ends that debate, assuming it holds true and the defensive staff is let go. What direction the Redskins go next will be most interesting, as a number of big-name defensive minds will be available.
Stay tuned.
