Five Reasons Frankie Edgar Beats Chad Mendes

Written by Geoff Craig at MMA Manifesto

5) Toughness

Frankie Edgar was always one of the smaller fighters in the lightweight division and that didn’t stop him from becoming champion. Now he is the same size if not larger than most of his opponents at 145 pounds. When matched up with other fighters of similar size, Edgar still owns a power advantage after fighting in a higher weight class for most of his career.

4) Stamina

25:00 minutes has never been a problem for Edgar and he is near impossible to stop. He has been in NINE 5 round fights in his career and has never looked tired in any of them. Chad Mendes looked gassed in Round 2 against Conor McGregor. This fight will most likely go to the championship rounds and that is advantage Edgar.

3) Boxing Skills

Edgar possesses some of the best footwork and head movement in the game. His speed and technique are great in MMA as he is able to control the pace of the fights with his hands. He is sneaky fast and accurate with his lead jab, which stalls the attacks of his opponents. In addition, he has an iron chin and has never been stopped on his feet.
