Astros Win Their Tenth Straight

The Astros, who swept the Orioles and Twins prior to coming to Arlington, are now 41-16 on the season. That’s the best record by a Major League team after 57 games since the 2001 Mariners were 45-12 on their way to a 116-win season.

“I feel great. Obviously, to come into this park and get the sweep, this team continues to show up every single day with a great will to win,” Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. “We take the aggressive approach and have done a lot of damage. I love the makeup of this team, the resolve to come in and play against teams no matter where we are, no matter who we’re playing. We’ve got a pretty good vibe going.”

The Rangers are going in the opposite direction. They have lost 11 of their last 14, including five of six on this homestand, and are now 15 games behind the Astros in the American League West. They are 1-6 against the Astros this season.

“I don’t think there is anything wrong, Houston just played better than us for three games — defensively, offensively, pitching,” Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo said. “We don’t have any problems, they just played better than us.”

Carlos Correa and Yuli Gurriel also hit home runs for the Astros to support starter Brad Peacock. He picked up the win by allowing two runs in six innings. The Astros scored in each of the first five innings. The Rangers managed just one hit through four innings before Rougned Odor led off the fifth inning with a home run.
