Arthur Blank Taking All Falcons Employees To SuperBowl

Written by Cindy Boren at Washington Post.com

Arthur Blank isn’t limiting his exuberance over the Atlanta Falcons to movin’ and groovin’.

The team’s owner is sharing his glee with Falcons employees by taking, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, all of them to Houston for Super Bowl LI on Feb. 5. That’s a workforce that numbers in the hundreds and the cheapest tickets Monday were going for over $3,600 on Stubhub.com, but if there’s anyone who can afford it, it’s one of the founders of the Home Depot.

Blank, who purchased the team in 2002, has waited a long time for a Super Bowl trip, the second in the history of the franchise. Originally, he was thinking it might be nice if the team got to the big game in 2019, when Atlanta will host the Super Bowl in its new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. He said as much to Coach Dan Quinn when Atlanta won the rights to the game.

“I told him, ‘We want to play in the Super Bowl in 2019,’ ” Blank revealed. “He texted me back saying, ‘I plan on getting there sooner.’ So maybe I didn’t expect this but Dan did.”

Blank isn’t planning to let another 18 years elapse between Super Bowl appearances.
