Ray Allen Looking for NBA Comeback with Championship Teams

The Warriors have had quite the week, after landing former MVP Kevin Durant on Independence Day to go along with their All-NBA players Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson already on the roster and as the week has gone on they have continued to fortify their roster that was depleted to find the salary cap space to fit in Durant.

The team signed free agent center Zaza Pachulia to the $2.9M mid-level exception and agreed to terms yesterday afternoon with free agent forward David West, at the veteran’s minimum salary of $1.29M.  Now word has come that another decorated player could be interested in joining the mix.

There have been multiple reports surfacing that the agent for 10-time NBA All-Star Ray Allen has reached out to the two most recent NBA Champions to gauge interest in signing one of the greatest shooters in league history for the upcoming season. Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com also reports that Allen would be like to hear from the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs if the interest was mutual.

Allen’s interest in playing another NBA season at age 41 is a mild surprise, given that he has sat out the last two NBA seasons.  However, it seems that interest in Allen has continued since he last stepped onto an NBA court at the end of the 2014 NBA Finals, when his Miami Heat lost to the San Antonio Spurs in five games. Alex Kennedy says the Golden State Warriors have been lobbying for him to come play in the Bay Area for the past two years.

The Miami Heat appraoched Allen to play past season, but he did not take them up on their offer, according to the Miami Herald’s Ethan J. Skolnick.
