Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones has confirmed that Mercer Basketball player Jibri Bryan was killed after being shot in the head at a gas station.

Another victim was shot multiple times in the incident.

Bryan was 23-years-old.

Sheriff David Davis said that a white Nissan Sentra pulled up, two men got out and then there was a confrontation.

“There was some type of confrontation or disagreement and gunfire erupted and as a result of that gunfire the person who was parked in the parking lot was shot and killed,” Davis said.

One of the men in the Nissan ran across the parking lot and was helped a few blocks away to the Medical Center Navicent Health. He had been shot multiple times.

“Well it shows a callousness a disregard of who may be around and an impulsiveness for someone to come up and just start shooting like this,” Davis said of the daytime shooting.

Bryan was a sophmore attending Mercer, playing as a guard on their basketball team.

Bryan, a Savannah native, leaves behind a 2-year-old son.

He only appeared in about six games this year due to an injury, but he was very effective in those games.

The 23-year-old was a marketing major and he received numerous academic awards throughout his career. This year he was nominated for the All State Good Hands team, which recognizes both academics and athletics.
