The Texas Rangers won the 2023 World Series last night, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 in Game 5. The Rangers won the series 4-1, securing their first World Series championship in franchise history. Nathan Eovaldi pitched six gutsy innings for the Rangers, and Mitch Garver broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the seventh.
Corey Seager was named the World Series MVP after heroic Fall Classic performance. Seager’s game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth of Game 1 began a fantastic run for the veteran. Last night he hit a single in the top of the 7th that would lead to a Mitch Garner RBI single to score him for the first run for either team.
For the entire postseason, Seager had a .318 average with a .451 on-base percentage and 1.133 OPS along with six home runs, 18 runs scored 12 RBI in 66 at-bats.
