Three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt is on the wishlists held by many football fans a whole month before the new league year opens. Watt and the Houston Texans officially parted ways last Friday, a mutual decision that allows the 31-year-old to select his new team at any point.
In just four words, Watt sent the NFL Twitter community ablaze on Wednesday afternoon. “Free agency is wild,” he wrote.
Credit the NHL’s Minnesota Wild for seeing a simple tweet as a potential recruitment opportunity:
Not for nothing, but the Wild could be on to something. As Tal Pinchevsky noted for the NHL’s website back in 2013, hockey was Watt’s first true sports love.
