NBA Makes Changes To All Star Game

NBA fans aren’t the only ones who will be voting for the 2017 All-Star starters.

For the first time, NBA players and select basketball media members will vote for the Eastern and Western conference starters in the Feb. 19 game in New Orleans, the league said in a news release.

Fans will make up 50% of the vote, and NBA players and media each will comprise 25% of the vote.

Like the fans, players and media will vote for two backcourt players and three frontcourt players. Each player and media member can vote once, and players can vote for themselves and teammates.

Player and media votes will not be disclosed, and about 75 media members will vote.

Voting begins on Christmas, ends on Jan. 16, and the starters will be announced Jan. 19 on TNT.

Fans will be able to vote several ways:

  • Nba.com/vote
  • On the NBA app on Android and iOS.
  • Twitter, by using the player’s first name and last name or twitter handle and the hashtag #nbavote
  • Facebook, by using the player’s first name and last name and the hashtag #nbavote
  • Google search, by searching for “NBA Vote All-Star” or “NBA Vote team name” (example: NBA Vote Warriors) and use the voting cards to select.
  • On Twitter, Facebook and Google, fans can submit votes for 10 different players per day during the voting period.
