LeSean McCoy Assaulted Two Off-Duty Police Officers

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy and former NFL running back Curtis Brinkley are at the center of a police investigation after an alleged altercation with two off-duty officers in Philadelphia on Sunday.

6ABC Action News first reported the allegations against McCoy, with John Gonzalez of CSN confirming Brinkley is the other suspect.

According to the police report, two officers were hospitalized as a result of their injuries. Dave Schratwieser of Fox 29 reported at least one officer suffered a fractured skull, with broken ribs and a broken nose listed among the other injuries. There is video of McCoy, Brinkley and the officers being thrown out of the bar, but it does not appear as though surveillance captured the incident itself.

The police report indicates the argument began over a bottle of champagne, per Gonzalez.

The report states that officers Darnell Jessie, Roland Butler and Sergeant Daniel Ayers purchased four bottles of champagne that evening. When Butler “moved to another location with his bottle,” former Pitt football player Tamarcus Porter “approached him and tried to pull the bottle from his hand.” According to the report, “an argument ensued as to the ownership of the bottle,” at which point McCoy, Brinkley and Christopher Henderson “assisted [Porter].” During the ensuing altercation, according to the report, Butler was knocked to the ground and “punched, kicked and stomped about his body and head multiple times.”
