Just about every site out there now has a pound-for-pound list: 10 fighters (15 if you are really lucky) ranked in a fairly predictable order that allows you to envision unlikely cross divisional match ups. As fun as they are, they’ve all become pretty much the same over the years.
So, as I sat home watching the preliminary fights at UFC 192, an idea came to me. Why not show where these guys rank? Why not expand those pound-for-pound fights to show the whole UFC roster? The 1 to 552 Rankings were born.
Putting this list together was tough. It required information on 552 fighters and hundreds of things that could be taken into consideration. Over the course of creating this list I considered not only their recent results, but the amount of activity they’ve had, the methods in which they’ve won/lost and the severity of those results. I considered their techniques and fighting styles. I considered common opponents and fights I saw on The Ultimate Fighter as well as in other organizations.
In the end, this is the result.
