Johnny Manziel Vows To Return in Apology.

Johnny Manziel promised to continue to work on resurrecting his NFL career in a flurry of activity on social media, apologizing to fans Monday and vowing “I’ll be back.”

Manziel asked forgiveness from fans of Texas A&M, where he won a Heisman Trophy in 2012. The quarterback, who has been a free agent since being cut in March after two tumultuous seasons with the Cleveland Browns, responded to a tweet from the Aggies’ community by saying that he is “truly sorry” and will “do whatever I can to make it right.

On Instagram, Manziel was putting up random posts…until he turned semi-serious.

“You all write about a day in my life and what goes on…here it is,” he wrote on Instagram, including a clip of him making faces and flexing as music blares.

“No secrets, no hiding, I”m not what you read about. I’ll be back… In time. It can’t end like this…it won’t. I love you all even though your comments suck.”

Manziel has a lot of self-inflicted damage to repair. He has been cut by two agents this season and is facing a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from an alleged incident with his ex-girlfriend in January. If found guilty, he could face up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine. If an NFL team were to sign him, he would face suspension for the first four games of the season for what ESPN reports is a violation of its substance-abuse policy and further possible discipline under the personal conduct policy. So far, NFL teams are keeping their distance.

Manziel, who went through rehab during the 2015 offseason, promised to go sober July 1 and, in a comment through his spokesperson to The Washington Post’s Kent Babb, he said he was focused on being healthy:

“I’m actually doing well. I have good friends around me supporting what I do and I try to support them in what they want to do. I’m not saying I’m never drinking again, but for now just mostly being healthy. I’ve got a killer gym in my house and I can spend time working out. I’m interested in doing a lot of different things in my life — including football — but, right now, I’m just exploring options and waiting to see what the future holds.”
